Big Red X in Story View
When I select "Story View" to view scenes, a big red X appears. I have been working for about 6 hours in slide view and wanted to view the aggregate. Why did the red X appear and how do I get rid of it? I'm working on Articulate 360. Thanks!

For anyone that has this issue when entering ANY text field on the screen, I run into this issue as soon as I draw a text field and release.
For now my workaround from Articulate is to shut off Modern Text before I do anything, and leave it off (Under Design/Fonts/Modern Text). Weird case here, but just in case someone else runs into this issue! Cheers.

This is good to know, but I get it:
When I scroll up or down or
When I am moving from Slide view to Story view or
just about anytime it feels like it!I send the response back each time with detailed information of what I was
doing at the time of the big red X!I have just gotten into the habit of saving my work as I go along and then
just closing out and opening the last saved file. Aggravating yes, but
better than losing it all! I do have to save the file under a different
name each time. Sometimes the file will come back as corrupt if I do not!- JeffForrerCommunity Member
Thanks for the info. One other note, once I do get an error (In my case from entering a text field), then anything I do after that causes errors. So just wanted to let you know we figured out the initiating circumstance, so once that happens, it is broken. If I turn off Modern Text before I do anything, then things are good. Just in case you are able to figure out if you have a unique circumstance that causes things to go haywire ;0)

I got the same problem, indeed, its fixed by unchecking the option of modern text.
Uncheck, save, and restart, only than it was a fix.The problem here appeared after updating from win7 to win10..
It seems to have to do with the MUI files of windows, that what the error message tells me.
Strange is that no other programms have had any problems with this.

Hi,
In my experience, the "X" appeared while still using Windows 7, upgraded to 10 and it was still persisting. But removing the Modern Text did fix it in the end. I have tried new files without removing the Modern Text and the "X" magically reappears. It's all very odd.

Hi there, Tzipora!
I'm sorry that you lost time working through the red X, but it's very appreciated that you shared the tip of deselecting Modern Text with everyone!
That X is typically a sign of corruption in the file or loss of resources, but it's interesting to see that it's happening in similar Windows environments.
We'll start to monitor this, and let us know if you need anything!

Hi Lauren,
This happens to me no matter what font I choose. In fact, if I forget to deselect Modern Text I get the red X when I attempt to add any content. Even on a brand new project.

Hi Tzipora,
Thanks for contacting us and sharing an update on what you are experiencing.
I see that you participated in a web conference with my colleague Victor and the issue was specific to an issue with your Flash Player.
When you turn off Modern Text as the workaround, is everything working as expected?
Let me know if we need to connect you back with a support engineer for a lingering issue.

Hi, I faced the same issue but for me the error kept moving to all the slides and one point all of my slides are corrupted. Is there a solution to get this resolved? Its a high interactivity file with level 3 approach. Can some please share your best solution and help me here?

The only thing that worked for me was to uncheck Modern Fonts on the design tab.

I see this is an old forum, but if someone could help me find this Modern text option, i am new to Articulate. Thank you

Hi Nikkee, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community!
Modern Text is the default in Storyline 360. We made this change in Storyline 360 (Build 3.52.25156.0), so if you're using the latest version, then your project will automatically use Modern Text.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Any idea what resource running out causes this?
Work just switched my PC and im getting this more and more. No one thing causes it, seems to just happen randomly with the probability going up as a function of time since the last instance. I've started keeping the perfomance tab of task manager open and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Barely any cpu usage, memory constantly about half, disk same as cpu. Nothing peaks and nothing fills up just work, work, work, stop. It's an i7 11700, 32 ram, ssd, discreet gfx. Fairly beefy for what it's doing. The generic error messages don't really help. I've just had to get into the habit of saving after basically everything.

the errors are normaly documented in the log files*
open in windows file explorer
%LocalAppData%/Articulate/360/Logs/
-> Storyline_STABLE_yyyymmdd_hhmmss.log
send these files to articulate in a support case
Jürgen
* the errors where storyline simply crashes without error message, are unfortunately missing there - then have a look in the Windows Event Viewer
