Blurring text for privacy
I'm building courses for the staff at a college and it is sometimes necessary to display personal information on students in screenshots. Is there a way to blur this information to keep it private? I can do it in my photo editing software before importing the picture but was wondering if there is a way to do it after bringing the picture into Storyline 360.

For software simulations, due to PHI/PII in medical data, I've had the best success with mocking up entire screens using Illustrator and then importing the images for the background. It's time consuming but the advantage is that I can then create customize interactions and feedback that more closely mimics the software.

I agree, and, quite frankly, find it extremely disturbing that there would be developers working on a live production system, accessing actual patients' (or other users') sensitive data, and expecting a blur tool to completely obfuscate said PII data.

If we upload anything to the LMS that has PHI/PII then an HR action will be taken. It hasn't happened to anyone on our team yet. It's an added incentive to making sure that our material is secure.

This is needlessly time consuming.

I'll add my upvote for the feature request. I believe adding a blur feature would be a fantastic and very useful addition to Storyline. I work with a lot of systems for which a scrubbed training environment does not exist. Consequently, I spend a lot of time blurring data on simulation screens. Depending on how the sim is built, I either scrub static screens in Photoshop or use Camtasia to blur video. It would be great to have the feature in Storyline.

I'll also add my vote for a blur tool to be added. We could definitely use this for the training materials we currently produce.

wow, still no blur tool, well done

We are living in a world where user's privacy is a hot daily topic, I think that this feature cannot be overlooked any longer. I really hope Articulate team will take this feature request seriously. You already see how many developers are requesting this feature and how it will assist our job greatly. I will especially benefit when the blurring can be applied on short animation like scrolling when recording simulation. Thanks!

Any update on a blur feature? I can't believe this thread has been active for over 6 years and nothing is implemented
Hi Alexx!
Thanks for checking in on this!
I don't have any updates to share at this time as our development team has been prioritizing other features. However, I've included you in the feature report and will provide updates if it makes it to our Feature Roadmap.
In the meantime, for your reference, here's a deeper look at how we manage feature requests.

Hi Steven!
I understand the development team has their priorities with developing features, but this is a feature which has been asked for a very long time. Even on articulate days because it would give us more time to create other awesome things instead of hiding privacy related matters.
It would even be better if it also works with scrolling.
Is it possible to put this on the priority list as is has been asked for...6 years already?

Granted this this does not permanently blur your media, but here is an easy option for blurring most elements on your SL slide. This is a quick example, so it can be improved and refined.

Using a short piece of JavaScript, a few variables, and tagging the items you wish to blur in the alt text field, you can selectively blur any of them to different extents, turning it on or off as needed. You could modify the way items are tagged to better preserve the alt text fields.

Haha! I wasn’t paying full attention when I replied earlier today to this 8 year old thread! I had responded 5 years ago with the same suggestions! Surely, the ongoing nature of this discussion warrants an appropriate addition to the Articulate product roadmap?

Any word on this? As we would like to have this control over images we use from the 360 library - that are not imported. Thanks.

Hi Laura,
This feature hasn't made it to the top of our roadmap, but we're still listening to the feedback. Here's a bit more about how we work to prioritize feature requests.

Can you please list the top priorities for Articulate?
