It sounds like you're doing extra work that isn't necessary.
Storyline's Graded Questions allow you to set the number of attempts.
- If the user answers incorrectly and they haven't used all of the attempts, Storyline automatically shows the Try Again layer. (Storyline automatically adds that layer when the Attempts field is >1.)
- If the user answers incorrectly and they have used all of the attempts, Storyline automatically shows the Incorrect layer.
By the way, instead of branching back to the review slide, you could just lightbox it. That might solve the issue for the drag-and-drops, because the user wouldn't actually leave the slide.
