Can't get shapes to line up
I've noticed this problem a few times so I thought I'd ask if there is a solution. When trying to line up shapes, often one edge will not visibly line up even though the wireframe points are exactly the same and the guidelines when resizing the objects seem to snap to the right position.
Here is my current example: http://imgur.com/toAQSR4
I am trying to build a long colored bar that I will fill with buttons, and at the top I want a folder-tab looking piece to put the title on. However, as you can see the right hand edge will never line up. It's like Articulate thinks they are in line but it does not draw the shape properly. This carries over into the preview mode as well. It's the same problem with outlines turned on or off.
Any thoughts on how to make this work?

This can happen when trying to line up a shape with an outline with a shape that has no outline. It can be especially confusing if the outline is the same color as the background.

I'm also running into this issue. I do notice that when I select my SVG shapes, the selection box on some of them is off. What is odd is that for some shapes, it looks fine, and others are off. This might be why people are running into this problem.
What is interesting is that when I select all images, the selection boxes line up fine, but the actual image is above the bounding box line. as shown below.
In the image below, you can see that the picture does not align with the shapes above and below. When I nudge the image or the shapes with an arrow key, they still will not line up. The picture jumps up what seems like 2px instead of one.
Any chance of a fix after all these years?

I'm not thrilled to see that this is still an issue to a problem that was put up here 4 years ago - Is this still a thing? Is there really no answer on how to get two shapes to line up evenly?

Hi there.
This has always been an issue with Storyline and it's a shame as I like courses to look perfect, and it can be challenging to position items to look perfect when the course is published, especially as they line up perfectly in edit mode.
I'm currently working on a software simulation, and trying to line up rectangular Storyline buttons around the 'buttons' in the screenshots can be quite difficult.
It really should not be this way, and say what you like about Captivate, but I never had this issue using Captivate.
It's not always the case, but I have found positioning the buttons on even horizontal and vertical positions helps. - SanjuThapa-b5a0Community Member
It's so frustrating trying to build a flow chart when lines don't align with each other. Such a basic issue, yet SEVEN YEARS later it's still an issue?

You might be tempted to zoom in while lining up. I zoom in a lot when building and automatically do it. However, if you want to line up a box around something else (such as a button on a software simulation), I have found having the view at 100% gives better results.

Thanks, i think that tip helped!

Zooming helps - but it's definitely not a functional workaround! And they still don't line up perfectly.

I find the only way to be certain is to publish it and then tweak it in the course. Oddly, the Storyline screen, preview and published output can all differ.
Having a line stroke width that is an even number also helps. - SanjuThapa-b5a0Community Member
Ya, it's not perfect.
