Issue with Presenter add-in for PowerPoint

Good afternoon,

This is something that only just started happening to me.

We're using the Microsoft 365 suite of tools, but desktop versions, not web ones.

Whenever I start PowerPoint I get an error message. I click OK, and the application opens. (screenshot attached).

I've got a presentation that is saved locally on my laptop's c:\ drive, so not on my OneDrive. Then, when I try to use any of the tools from Articulate Presenter (e.g. content library), I get the same error. It looks like PowerPoint has stopped responding, but eventually the dialog box appears and I can proceed. I'm assuming the error message is related to the add-in as it happens then too.

I click OK, and PowerPoint stops responding. I have to use the task manager to quit PowerPoint.

The add-in is running.

Any ideas please?

Thank you

  • Hi KarenWicks-029a,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue.

If you recently upgraded your Microsoft Office version to Microsoft 365, please try repairing your Studio 360 installation using the instructions here. You'll also want to ensure that your C: drive isn't getting synced to OneDrive, as this might cause issues with the application's performance.

If the issue persists, please open a case with our support team here for further assistance!

  • Hi JoseTansengco

Thank you for the update. I'll have to ask my IT department to apply the fix. If that doesn't work, then I'll open a case as suggested.

    Thank you

    Karen

  • Hello, I'd like to know what the future of Presenter 360 looks like. I read that it's not being updated anymore since the focus is more on Storyline and Rise. Our company has a PowerPoint culture and is reliant on Presenter 360. I'd like to know if I need to start looking at other options for the future. I have encountered freezes and other issues with Presenter which is why I'm worried for what the future might hold for it.

      Hi LorenHallmark-b,

      Thanks for reaching out!

While no new features are planned for Studio 360 (which includes Presenter 360), we'll continue to address issues that stem from operating system upgrades, browser updates, PowerPoint changes, and security vulnerabilities for all Studio 360 apps. If you're experiencing any issues with your Presenter 360 installation, please open a case with our support team here so we can have a support engineer troubleshoot the behavior with you.

Thank you for your response! That's good to know. Presenter 360 has been the only sustainable solution for managing our extensive eLearning content, especially with our large company and small development team. I was able to connect with IT and they were able to figure it out. I think the issue was with MS updates.
