Closed Caption Translations (1 training in multiple Languages)
Hello Articulate Storyline Experts!
I work for a global company where we have people that speak a variety of languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese & Korean).
For these we typically have a training in English, and then subtitles in each of the variety of languages.
Is there a trick to creating 1 training with options to choose which language the Closed Captions should be? (Right now I'm creating each training first in English, then Copying the training & adding a different Language in the CC. Making 6 different files).
Or a trick to Exporting the Closed Captions typed in to be translated?
Any input is appreciated.

Definitely need this feature as well!

This feature would be great. Especially as most companies are multicultural.

I create e-learning for 50.000 people at a time using more than 10 languages and me and the team I'm working in would LOVE as many tools for language versions as possible. Including multiple language closed captions.
We can't be messing around with anything that isn't built-in like javascripts as we need to make sure that 1 person can create a course and another, 5 years down the line, can maintain it.
So a huge thumbs up from me to having this feature implemented. And more localization features. Like duplicating courses and integrating them into the same SCORM file etc.
Hi all,
Thanks for sharing that you'd also like to see multiple-language support for closed captions. I've added your voices to the existing feature request, and we'll be sure to let you know once this makes it to our feature roadmap!

Add me to the list! Need to copy/paste my builds in order to change cc's and support trainees on multiple continents. Thank you!
I've added your voice to the feature request, Josh.
Thanks for reaching out!

Can you provide a more pragmatic update? This Storyline feature has been requested on these forums multiple times for many, many years. It was listed on the Roadmap back in January (link) but has since been dropped. However, it was implemented into Rise 360 over 3 years ago (link). Is it an impossible feature to code into Storyline? Sorry for any frustration --- but having this feature would make a huge difference for us.

Do you know if this enhancement has made it to the roadmap yet? Please add me to the list for this feature request!

Hi Dimi and Gayna,
Thanks for reaching out about this! I understand you'd like an update on the feature request where closed captions can be seen in multiple languages and why it was dropped from the Roadmap. Currently, there hasn't been any movement on this feature as we focus on fixing bugs over developing new features. Our shift in focus is the reason why this feature was removed from the Roadmap. Your voices have been added to the request. We’ll update this discussion if there’s any news regarding this feature.
Also, here is some more information on how we manage feature requests.

I too want to more easily add closed captions in a different language to the English audio. The text-to-speech audio has a lot of mispronunciations for scientific words, so just using that is not an option but the captions generated from the text are great. Being able to export/import all .vtt files easily would help me enormously. Being able to have one file with a choice of subtitles in multiple languages would be a dream come true.
Hi Caron!
Thanks for sharing the feedback on how multiple language support for closed captions could benefit you when authoring in Storyline! I've included your voice in the feature report and will update this discussion if it makes it onto our feature roadmap.
Have a great weekend!

Agreed! My global team really needs a product that works for a multilingual audience! Add me to the list of users who really need this feature!
Hi Erin!

Have a great start to your week and happy developing!
