Collaboration with a team
In a previous organization, we used Box for collaboration, because the development team literally was global. Box works by having the file on the local machine, and backing it up to the cloud, while honoring check-in/check-out and version control. The upside is, your team can all be working the same file while maintaining version/revision control, with complete history.
In my current organization, we have re-created the Box environment using SharePoint 365. Again, the "working file" is on the local machine, with save/commits happening in the background to the development space on SharePoint. I can turn off sync once a project is completed so I don't have those files persisting on the local machine, and re-enable sync at any time, on a file/folder basis, if needed.
