Color picker (eyedropper) doesn't work
Trying to pick a shape's border color to match other on-screen elements. The eyedropper only works in the dialog box. Once outside, the chosen color is black no matter what the eyedropper is over.

Looks like the way Parallels is set up, I am using an iMac 27" with additional 27"external display, in fact storyline only ever runs off the external display.
I may however be a combination of the screen settings in MAcOS and Parallels.
Something doesnt feel right though, because you cannot left click and select the colour. I have just dragged out my magic mouse (I swapped to a Logitech with programmable buttons to open all the storyline dialogues via the mouse) and left click works for me, fine.
I think you may need to type/screenshare with someone to check the settings in MacOS, parallels and Windows to see what is going on. I dont think it is a storyline issue.

Thanks Phil - I suspect you are right. I will pursue that line of enquiry.

I am not on a Mac and have the same issue. Originally it was only on my second and third monitors, but now when I move them to my laptop main monitor, it does not give me black, but does give me a different shade of blue than I am trying for. This normally works right and I closed and reopened Storyline and same thing. I am the only one in my office having this issue, but wanted to let someone know it was not only on the mac. This issue comes and goes.
Hi Dinah and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
I do see where we have an issue related to additional monitors.
You mention moving to your main monitor. Do you experience the same issue if you disconnect the additional monitors?

We have 3 monitors and eyedropper fails on all three - but only if:
Format Shape > Color > More Colors > Click the Eyedropper
What works is:
Format Shape > Color > Eyedropper
Thanks Sam. I'm not able to replicate, but I will certainly add these details to our report.

Here is some more (spooky) feedback:
I have experienced the same as SAM and this morning did a test after re-start. The problem went away!
HOWEVER! The problem came back; This is what happened:
(MAC + Parallels + Win10 + Apple 27" Monitor + ACER HDMI monitor)
Started Windows which was running in a reduced sized Window (not full screen)
Started A360 and tested the Eyedropper - IT WORKED!!!!
Switched Windows to FULL SCREEN (Parallels "Use all displays in Full Screen)The Eyedropper STOPPED working.
Switched back from Full Screen - Eyedropper continues to not work.
Closed A360
Shutdown Windows 10
Restarted Parallels
Restarted A360 (in Window)
Eyedropper works!Switched A360 to Full Screen within Window (Win10 still not at Full Screen)
Eyedropper works!Switched Parallels to FULL SCREEN but turned OFF "Use all displays in Full Screen"
Eyedropper works!Switched Parallels to "Use all displays in Full Screen"
EYEDROPPER DOES NOT BEHAVE CORRECTLY! - The Eyedropper is sampling an area of the screen which is nowhere near the cursor. For me, the problem appears to be related to Parallels running Windows across multiple screen. The problem has been resolved by switching back to running Windows on a single screen. But this fix is not consistent. Other times it did not work.

I run a standard Dell Windows 7 with 3 monitors.

I run Storyline 3 on an external monitor connected to my laptop. I discovered that if you change the Windows display scale setting to 100% (it defaults to 125%), the color picker will work just fine. Hope this helps!
Thanks everyone for popping in to share. I've passed along your troubleshooting and results as well :)

Is there any resolution to this? It happens with me as well, but there is no rhyme or reason to when- for a while, it was fine. Yes, I have multiple monitors (as most developers do!) and no, I am not on a Mac. The holding the right mouse button worked ONCE and then not again. Movie attached.
Hi Anne,
I'm sorry you've run into this issue too!
We do have it reported to our team that the eyedropper color picker doesn't work when you're using multiple monitors. It's still an open issue, and in the meantime you could look at disconnecting the second monitor. Also, I know Sam mentioned that it only behaves oddly when using: Format Shape > Color > More Colors > Click the Eyedropper
What you could do instead is use: Format Shape > Color > Eyedropper.
Kenneth also shared that his Windows display setting impacting this too, and checking that he was using a display of 100% (vs. 125%) resolved the issue.
Let me know if either of those workarounds helps!

The format shape>color>eye dropper doesn't work either :( I hope this is a priority fix. My laptop screen is way too small to develop on and going into colors to write down the RGB to get a match is pretty ugly.
