Could not recover assets-Images no longer working

My current version of Storyline is 3.86.32080.0. I opened a course that was recently updated with an older version (maybe 4 versions prior) and received the, " Could not recover assets used here" message. My co-worker with the previous version can open the course and not receive that message. Was there something in the newest version causing our images to no longer appear? Is there anything we can do moving forward besides replacing all the images in the courses that produce the error message?
