Custom Hover State Chaos

Hello!

I've designed a custom hover state for a button, but it's interfering with the "hidden" state triggers. The button remains visible even when it should be hidden, especially when the mouse hovers over its previous position and then moves away.

The goal is for the button to appear after the narration bubbles are complete, disappear when clicked, and reappear with the next bubble. However, the final bubble (dragon animation) should only display the dancing scroll in the corner, with no arrow present.

I'm not sure why the arrow reappears when the mouse moves after the dragon animation, especially since it shouldn't be on the slide at that point. Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Update- this arrow is officially haunting my project. I moved on to another slide that doesn't include the arrow and yet it popped up during my preview when I moved my mouse. I have updated the software and relaunched. Any ideas? Or exorcisms?

  • Hi JC, I've just tested your file in SL 360 3.84.31722.0 and it appears to be working how you would like it to. After the dragon appears, the arrow no longer appears. Which version of SL are you using.

I've rolled back to the the February 6th version due to another bug.

Hi Sam thank you so much for the reply. I was working on it in the Feb 6th version origionally and updated to the Feb 20th version when this issue started. I reverted back to the Feb 6th version but it's still malfunctioning on both slides. Are you using the Beta version by any chance? I am just using the regular one for now but wouldn't be opposed to switching to Beta.

  • I'm also using the regular version. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly. I'll make a recording of what I see.

  • Ha, well. The arrow just came up when I was recording the video. Let me check.

  • Aha, there seems to be a some kind of hotspot that reveals the arrow. I think the structure needs some work. Let me see.

  • Hi JC, that should be fixed now. I removed the hotspot and just used the triggers to show/hide the arrow.

Also, I didn't understand the use of the custom Hover. I reverted to the default Hover so you can get rid of some unnecessary triggers. Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know, but leveraging the default states of buttons is handy and will save you some effort.

Hey Sam thanks so much for going though all that! I deleted the hotspot and changed the triggers to come directly from the arrow. Now the arrow is showing up without the mouse moving. I tried it on the other slide and the arrow is showing up in the same manner even though it's not on the slide. Changed to the built in hover state and having the same issue. Super confused haha maye it's my computer running slow? Or maybe I just need to accept the L and get rid of hover all together
