Drag and Drop Reset withTry Again Multiple Attempts
Hi All,
Just created a Screenr on creating a Drag and Drop Quiz with 2 attempts. The D&D resets after the first attempt; that is, the objects go back to their original position. On the second attempt, Learners are brought to the Incorrect layer. Of course, you can set up as many attempts as you want!
Uploading the story here. Have seen this question appear periodically, so thought it might be helpful to have a tutorial and an example.

Hi Leslie
Thank You for your response, but I know that we set the automatically decide the slide property than review button work correctly, but my issue is that how to set the multiple attempt in the drag-drop with reset all the options. because with the automatic decide drag-drop cannot we reset & we set the initial state than review button work incorrect.
Please suggest.
Hi Reena!
You can allow multiple attempts on the question type, but the slide will not re-set utilizing the Automatically Decide setting. Sounds like you are utilizing the Reset to initial state to overcome this, but this will not allow your review process to work as designed.
If you would like to see this handled differently, you are welcome to share with our product development team here.

I wanted to support Darren's request, since I've encountered this issue many time: please have this function to reset drag andr drop choices directly built in Storyline!
Hi Dario,
I know there are a few workarounds in the E-Learning Heroes community to reset the drag and drop, but I can understand how that would make life easier to just have that as an option. I think it would be worth telling our product team about it here!
In case you're wondering, here's how we manage all of the ideas we receive! So the prevalence of workarounds may be why this hasn't risen to the top yet.

Hi Rebecca,
I tried your steps but I guess I'm missing something because once I click try again, the objects can't be dragged anymore. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Carla
Hi Carla,
Sorry that you ran into trouble getting this set-up. I know that Rebecca does not make it back to the forums, but I'm sure that someone could help you out if you're willing to share your .story file.
You can simply use the 'Add Attachment' button right here in the forum reply window:
Hi Yoann,
Glad that you found Rebecca's example helpful.
Unfortunately she does not make it back to the forums since she retired, but I took a look to see if I could help you out here.
I found the culprit. This trigger is setting the 'try' variable to always = 1, so it's never incrementing:
You can change it to this:
I've re-attached the file and I think it now works as you wish.
Hope that helps :)

Hi Leslie,
I used the process in Rebecca's example and it works for the first slide but the same triggers don't work on the subsequent slides.
Could you please take a look at my file and let me know what I am doing wrong?
Hello Sonal,
Thanks for sharing a copy of your project file with us. Just to clarify, are you trying to setup your triggers so that the positions of your drag and drop items will reset after the 'Try again' layer is shown? If so, you'll want to remove the 'Hide layer' trigger from your triggers:
What's happening is that the layer is being closed before the 'Jump to slide' trigger is given a chance to execute, and the 'Jump to slide' trigger is the one responsible for jumping the learner back to the slide that they are on, effectively resetting the positions of the objects. To correct the behavior, delete the 'Hide layer' trigger and leave the 'Jump to slide' trigger in your question slides.
Let me know if this works for you!
