Elementary Teachers/Administrators Using Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Making use of Rise's excellent resource linking capacity, I prepared this example course that I hope you will use and share if applicable to you.

You can see the course here.

The class is intended for elementary, middle, and high school educators and employees. It details how AAC can and should be integrated into inclusive classrooms as part of a Universal Design Approach. The two lessons should take learners about 3 hours each to complete. Students work through the prepared lessons to learn about AAC, how it can be applied within a classroom as part of a universal design for learning, and how it could be rolled out systematically at a school. Learners will also organize learning or reading groups with coworkers to spread knowledge and facilitate changes described in the lesson.

  • Hi Matt,

Wow, this is so cool! Thanks for sharing it with the community :)

I did notice that in the Small Steps lesson, it looks like you forgot to replace the filler content for the body text in the Using Core Words button block, so I wanted to point that out to you. It's so easy to miss little things like that!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I could have been clearer, but that isn't filler text. It's reminding students to stop reading at a specific line, as better explained in the paragraph above. My student account has run out, so when I'm ready to pay for my account, I'll be sure to clarify. Thank you for letting me know and I'm so glad you put it up on the Examples Hub!
