Export to PDF

I recently exported a Rise course to PDF. Within the course there is an Attachment block with 5 attachments. The PDF retains the links which all work. The PDF will be uploaded to our LMS for over 30k users to access.

As users access the PDF from our LMS, the users will click the links for the attachments. The attachment links point to the rise course on the Articulate Content server. I'm assuming this is OK? There's no issue with the links pointing to the course on Rise 360?

I hope this makes sense.

  • Currently the PDF do not publish/export the Scenario feedback  ? Can this be fixed to the PDF tool, so that the Scenario export to PDF will have question, options and feedback at once.

  • Hello, SibaPrasad. We have not included scenario feedback in the exported PDF document. Thanks for letting us know you need that option. We're tracking requests like these, and we'll make sure to update you here if this becomes available in the future.

Not sure if this is the best spot to post this question but it is related to PDF export. We have a Rise 360 course that uses the flashgard grid. When exported into PDF some of the grids cross over 2 pages and the text on the backside does not fully display as a result. Is there anyway to ensure content does not split across 2 pages  (text blocks function properly)?

      Hi Nanci,

When exporting a course to a PDF, you have no control over where pages break.

  • Also not sure if this is the best spot to post the question, but when I export to PDF, I get "artifacts" when there are "ff" or "fi", it seems to delete one of the f and sometimes has funky formatting.  For example, words like Officer, efficiencies, etc.

    Any way to avoid that?

      Hi Ursula,

I've seen this happen in our PDF's as well.

It's very weird as it seems to happen randomly.

        Hi Ursula and Karl,

I've run into this issue as well. Only thing that worked was going back and forth with support and having them output the file and then share a link to the PDF with me to download. Even then, it took a number of tries.

  • Also, somewhat hijacking this thread to ask if there's a way to embed an export button into a Rise course that learners can click to get a dynamic PDF export of the current course. My concern with a static, embedded PDF of the course is the risk of not updating that file when tweaks are made to the course. Any suggestions welcome!

    Thanks,

    Caryn

Learners cannot dynamically create a PDF from a course.

We have a large number of courses that are republished quarterly.

Every time we republish a course, we create a new version of the PDF as well and upload the PDF to our LMS.

One of our larger courses creates a 900+ page PDF, so not quick to make any manual changes.

Ah well, I figured it was too much to hope for, but always worth inquiring. Thanks Karl!

  • My course comes out at 75M! This is unusable. Editing the PDF file is not easy for some reason. it crashes and gives me errors. It might actually be easier for me to copy and paste my entire Rise course into Word. HELP.

Has any progress been made on the accessibility of the PDF export? An option to export to plain text without images and interactions would be most helpful. Adobe accessibility checker continues to report hundreds of issues (alt text, headings, tables, reading order, etc) with the PDF export. The export produces a 60-200 page document which we then have to manually fix to make it somewhat accessible. I can't find anything on the accessibility journey about accessibility PDF export being worked on.
