Font Not Being Recognized When Previewing

Hello - I am trying to create a click-through simulation using screenshots for a course and using the font Avenir (which simulates the user experience the best).  When working on the slide, the font appears and the image looks normal, however as soon as I preview, the font is not recognized and all text appears as symbols.

Any ideas on how to correct this or ensure the font is recognized when previewing/publishing?

  • Hello Nicole!

We do have this logged as a software bug where the Avenir font isn't rendered properly. I've linked this conversation to the report so we can update you when we release a fix in an upcoming update.

We aren't seeing these issues with other fonts so our recommendation is to use a different font.

I am having this issue today so this was never fixed (three years later). My company's branding requires Avenir, I can't just use a different font.

Hello NicholeDinato-5! We are seeing this bug is quite specific and only applies to the Avenir font which is why it hasn't been prioritized yet. Are you using Avenir Light, Avenir Bold, or other formats in the Avenir font family?

Hi, I am also experiencing this issue with the Avenir font, which is what we use for our company branding. Would love if we could get a resolution to this. Thanks!

      Hi MariaLibonate,

Thanks for chiming in and for sharing how this is affecting you.

You’re running into a known issue we’re still tracking where certain Avenir font styles don’t render correctly in Storyline during preview or publish, even though they look fine while editing. I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially when Avenir is required for company branding and isn’t something you can easily swap out.

We don’t have an update to share just yet, but your comment helps reinforce the impact this has for teams using Avenir, and I’ve made sure it’s connected to the existing bug report so the product team continues to see the real-world impact.
