Format painter behaving badly

I have several objects with two states in each. The text is centered. I want to left justify the text for both states on all objects. I would normally select one object and set the justifications for both states to left justified and then user format painter to copy the format to all objects, one at a time. It used to work OK but now format painter isn't working. I have to change the formats for each object individually. Have I made a change to my project configuration that might be causing this problem? Running Storyline 360 V3.81.31200.0

Thanks for any help.

  • Hey Doug,

Since your objects have text in them, it is important to select the bounding box or the edge of the first shape you are selecting.  If you select inside of the box, Storyline assumes you are working with the text and not the shape formatting. You can usually tell because the outline of the shape will be highlighted with a dashed line when editing text and a solid line with working with the shape.  Another way to select the box is to select the initial box ub the timeline, then select format painter, then select the object to be painted on the canvas (not the timeline).

  • Thanks Ron

You will note from my post that the function has worked OK in the past. Only just recently has the problem cropped up for me. The justification of only some of my project existing objects has randomly (to me!) changed. When I correct one object and then try to copy the format to other objects, nothing happens.
