GIFs don't move? (Articulate Storyline 360)
Hello Heroes,
I've seen some posts about this issue, but there are many different cases, I got lost and prefer to create a new one. Here's the problem:
Created a GIF using Photoshop. A simple arrow going up and down, with "Once" feature so it doesn't loop to infinity. I upload it to stage, but in preview mode it doesn't move.
How can I fix this? I really need do integrate GIFs on my e-Leaning products.
I'm using Articulate Storyline 360 by the way!
Thanks in advance!
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 76, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One enhancement we’ve included:
Storyline 360 now supports high-resolution animated GIFs.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

thanks Dave - what do you mean by re-encoding?

Sometimes, by recreating the file with all of the correct parameters, the file will run better when imported.
Thanks, Dave.
It looks like you have a couple of options, Kayleigh. I see that Cleo was able to get you a workable file by re-sizing your .gif :)

so what are the correct parameters?
I have the same issue with a gif made in photoshop.
Thanks, Steve.
Hi Steve,
We are still investigating reports of this issue when using high-resolution gifs.
Current workaround:
- Reduce the resolution or quality of the GIF file.
If you'd like our team to take a look, please share your file privately here.

Hi Leslie - I tried lowering the resolution to 32 colors but it still didn't animate in Storyline. I went ahead and submitted a case.
Thanks, Steve.

Per another post, I added a .1 second empty frame ("frame delay") at the front of the animated gif in Photoshop, and now it works in Storyline.

Hi Kelly.
That link takes you to a page showing how to download/install authoring tools, can't see anything about GIFs in there.

Are there any knowledge base articles that explain how we can utilize this update? I've got the latest version, but I'm still getting motionless GIFs. Does the update simply address file sizes or is there STILL issues with Storyline not playing nice with frame rates, etc.

I am having this problem too. I am using cartoon animator 4.5 to make GIFs, which work great in Powerpoint. But none seem to work in Storyline. Seems like this has been a problem for years, long before we had to start paying a subscription fee. I see that there was an update that fixes this supposedly, but still having the same problem.
Hi Brian,
Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.
I did a quick test using a high-quality GIF and I can confirm that the GIF worked without any issues. Here's a link to the published slide so you can take a look. Since the issue you're experiencing appears to be isolated to the GIFs that you created, would you be willing to share a copy of your GIF files here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete them when we're done testing!
