How to disable "Hit Enter Key to Advance Slide "
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share some great news! We are no longer seeing this bug that prevented the enter key from functioning as expected when submitting answers on a freeform text entry field with an expanded height in Storyline.
Please make sure that you are using the current version of Storyline 360 (3.72.29699.0). This guide walks you through installing, updating, and opening Articulate 360 apps.
Please let us know if you're still encountering the issue and we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.
You would have to create an additional layer that will be shown when the ENTER key is pressed, just to prevent it from going to the next slide. While on this layer, reset the data entry field and jump back to the same slide. I used it a few times to display a message that ENTER key should not be used to submit the answer, Check my demo.

This idea seems like it would work. I created an error message layer and have the trigger set to show the layer when the user presses Enter after clicking on the numeric entry, but it seems to be ignoring the trigger and moving to the next slide every time Enter is used.
I have tried other things as well:
- Restricting navigation - the player is disabled for this project.
- Using a content slide instead of a question slide as per this article: https://access.articulate.com/support/article/how-the-enter-key-behaves-in-data-entry-fields-sl2
- Changing the submit keys - that option doesn't show up for me on form view
- Setting various triggers for the Enter key
Have any other solutions for this come up in the meantime?
