How to hide lesson number in rise so that it doesn't display number at the end of each lesson

Hi Articulate Community,

I am currently developing a course in Articulate Rise and need some help with the lesson numbering. My course structure is as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Lesson 1
  • Lesson 2
  • Lesson 3
  • Lesson 4
  • Summary

However, Rise automatically considers the Introduction as Lesson 1, which shifts the numbering of my actual lessons (i.e., Lesson 1 is shown as Lesson 2, and so on). Additionally, the lesson progress indicator at the end of each lesson shows "2 of 7", "3 of 7", etc., which is confusing for the learners.

Is there a way to hide the lesson numbering or the progress indicator in Articulate Rise so that it doesn’t display these numbers at the end of each lesson? Any guidance or workaround to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Hello Deepak,

Thanks for the detailed description of your question and for sharing the screenshot. I understand how the lesson numbers can confuse the learners as the first lesson is an Introduction. You can remove the "Previous / Next Lesson Buttons" by going to Themes >> Navigation >> Buttons as shown below.

If you require any further information, please let me know.

  • EricSantos  What of cases where we don't want the header, but we want the previous/next buttons that do not have lesson numbering? If I want to turn off lesson numbering, I have to have the header; but if I want my own header, I have to turn off the previous/next.

I would love to be able to have my own header AND turn off the lesson numbering in previous/next lesson buttons.

Hi tinanewton2025! I see what you’re trying to do here!

Right now, Rise 360 connects the Previous and Next buttons to the course header. If you turn off the header, the built-in navigation goes with it. If you keep the header on, you can manage lesson numbering. Because those settings work together, that exact combination isn’t available.

Here are a couple of ways you could approach it:

      • Keep the header on and add your own branded header using blocks.
      • Turn off built-in navigation and create custom navigation buttons that link to other lessons.

To create custom navigation, you can:

      1. Turn off built-in navigation in Theme → Navigation.
      2. Add a Button block at the bottom of your lesson.
      3. Set the button to Link to lesson and choose where it should go (Next, Previous, or any lesson you’d like).

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
