[HowTo] Multiple correct answers in a Freeform Hotspot
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I happened to come across it today as I was freeforming* in Storyline.
You know how on a freeform hotspot slide you can have zero/one/many incorrect hotspots but only one correct? Turns out you can have as many correct as you like. What you need to do is this follow this procedure :
- Create a new hotspot freeform slide.
- Set your correct and incorrect answers - at this point you can only set one correct hotspot, but we will set the rest later, but do go ahead and set all the incorrect ones.
- Now remove the freeform from the interaction by going to Insert-->Remove Freeform
- Now copy and paste the correct hotspot (the only green one) to other areas of your screen.
- Once you've set them all up, then go ahead and revert back to freeform by going to Insert-->Convert to freeform-->Hotspot
With any luck you will end up with something similar to the following :
That's all there is to it.
Enjoy!
Alex
* That thing you do, when you don't know what to do, but go ahead and do it anyway, instead of getting as far away from the PC as humanly possible.

Many bodily parts occur in pairs, thus this really helped me with a lesson I'm creating on female anatomy. Thank you.

This is awesome. If I understand well, the developer can put a potentially perfect response in multiple places on the slide, but the learner cannot choose more than one right answer.
In other words, I made a freeform quiz question using a picture of flowers in a garden to help me understand it. The area of the flower that contains the seeds should be clicked by the learner. There are two distinct flowers in the picture that learners may accurately click on. They can therefore click on either, but they are only able to submit one response. - WendyMoon-12383Community Member
Hello, I did this today in Storyline 360.
I don't know if the new version of Storyline causes this but the one thing I noticed is that after you remove the freeform hotspot, copy and paste the 2nd correct hotspot, select all the hotspots you want as the answer, then add the hotspot freeform question.
When I didn't select all the correct answers, then added the freeform hotspot it made one choice a correct and the other incorrect.

Thanks - I can't understand why this isn't also a default option.

I figured out an easier way! Create a second hotspot (it will be red). Make your correct answer the first hotspot. Add a trigger to jump to the correct slide layer when user clicks hotspot two. This way, either answer will trigger the correct slide layer.

Very helpful - thanks!

Interesting, it looks like it's no longer possible to move them off the slide.
Instead, it looks like you can hide the radio buttons instead of moving them. - SimonBlairCommunity Member
Hi Patricia,
I believe you can do it using with a little sleight of hand, like so:
- Crate a True/False question. Make True the correct answer.
- Move the True and False radio buttons off screen
- Add in check boxes (for your possible answers)
- Add trigger that sets the True button to selected when the state of any of the correct choices is selected
That's the basic idea. You may need to add a few more triggers. For example, if A and/or C are correct, but B and D are wrong, then you'll want to ensure neither B nor D are selected.
Cheers,

Hi Simon,
Thank you for coming back to me.
I've tried recreating a T/F question, as suggested but I can't get the radio buttons themselves to move of screen, I've even tried shrinking and moving both the button and the T/F answer but they won't move off the slide, have you any suggestions?
Thanks
Patricia

This is so useful and it helped me so much however, does anyone know a way round how you can have two correct answers or even one or the other.
I know it sounds weird but I'm trying to use a Quiz question to help in a case study for the treatment of wounds and there is not just one definitive correct answer it's either or, or both?

Thank you Alexandros. This is a Verrry helpful workaround.... and it still works after all these years. :)
