Initial screen - play vs first slide (SL360)
Most of my Storyline projects begin with the first slide in the activity, which is the presentation I prefer. However, every now and then an activity will begin with a screen that shows the title and a play button. Does anyone know why this occurs, and how to prevent it from happening?
Thanks,
Chris

A lot of questions in the Forum ask about this issue.
Modern browsers are typically set to prevent media from auto-playing. If you've got audio or video on the first slide, that big play button will show up, because the browser requires that the user do something to indicate it's okay to play the media.
There's more info on this here: Storyline and Studio: Media Doesn't Autoplay When Slides Advance Automatically - Articulate Support
The fix is to ensure that the first slide doesn't have media.

OK, thank you! The media on the first slide needs to be there.
You can try creating a first slide that looks like a title slide that when loaded auto advances to the real first slide.
Also, in the player you can set a cover photo so if you do get the play button it at least isn't a black box.
