Insert Zoom Region on a Layer
Why can't I insert a Zoom region on a layer?
Hey Greg,
I think using layers is the way to go here! I created a quick sample slide to get you started. Click here to see it in action.
Let me know if that's what you had in mind!

Alyssa, thanks for your suggestion. It is similar to what I went ahead with in the attachment. One question for you, what tool did you use to enlarge the descriptions for the layers?
Hey Greg! I simply cropped the original image, then enlarged it, all within Storyline.
Watch this video demo to find out how I did it. 👀

Awesome! Thank you!
Hi there John!
While there isn't a way to add a Zoom Region on a layer, you can create your own Zoom Region using the method I suggested to Greg in my previous reply here.
We're tracking this request, so thanks for letting us know you've got a need for it!

A lot of our work deals with viewing products and examining artifacts on products. The Slider is useful when comparing items or a series of products. Layers are ideal when using a Slider. Major draw back, cannot use the zoom tool on layers. Every time I work on these types of slides, I say under my breath and sometimes out loud, I wish Articulate had a zoom tool to use on layers.
Creating your own zoom area can be time consuming and tricky. There are software applications that can do that for us. Unfortunately, Storyline 360 isn't one of them that does it with ease. The positives of using Storyline outweighs the negatives of using that other software application but I do get nostalgic for their zoom area object when using Storyline's zoom tool.
I appreciate your candid insight, Emerson. I'll certainly pass it on to our product team for consideration as we plan for new features in Storyline 360!

6 years later.... no sight of this being implemented by any chance? Is there even a point in submitting a feature request at this point? It's been requested now for 6 years...

It's not available in SL 360 either. Disappointing.

Given that there have been quite a few requests for this, and that it's been nine years, is there any update on making zoom regions available on layers?
Thank you
Hi Barbara, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
This is still an open feature request with our team. I wanted to share some information about how we manage these feature requests, which may be helpful.
This conversation is linked to our report so that we can share any updates with you here.

Hi Leslie and thank you for your reply.
Could you please tell the community what step we are on here: 1, 2 or 3.
If this is not possible or not going to be done, it would be helpful to tell the community either way as it has been nine years since this request was first raised and nobody is any the wiser.- MarcBosscherCommunity Member
Wow was it really 9 years ago I made this request?
