Issue: SCORM package sends transformed “keys” instead of original learner text responses

We’ve encountered an issue with Storyline SCORM packages when analyzing the cmi data sent to the LMS.

  • The question text (interaction description) is transmitted correctly as standard text.
  • However, the learner response and the correct response are not transmitted in their original form. Instead, Storyline/SCORM appears to transform the text into a “key” format, with characters replaced or missing, before sending it.

Examples:

  • Question text: La conduite à tenir par le sauveteur secouriste du travail (SST) repose sur les mêmes quatre grandes actions
  • Learner response: Prot_ger__Examiner_Faire_alerter_ou_Alerter__Secourir
  • Correct response: Prot_ger__Examiner_Faire_alerter_ou_Alerter__Secourir

Original learner input should have been:
Protéger / Examiner / Faire alerter ou Alerter / Secourir

This makes it impossible to retrieve and evaluate the original learner answers (especially with accented characters or spaces).

  1. Is this transformation expected behavior in Storyline SCORM output?
  2. Is there a configuration or publishing option to ensure the original learner text (with accents, spaces, etc.) is transmitted correctly to the LMS?
  3. If not, is there a recommended workaround?

Thanks in advance for your help!
