Module depends on pre-test
Hi Franziska!
Thanks so much for reaching out regarding what you'd like to achieve in your course. I see that you've opened a support case and are working with my colleague Mick. You're in great hands.
We'll continue the conversation over in your case.
Have a great day!
Hi Folks - we have been creating courses like these for the past few years and I would love to see what other learners have been doing because honestly it is a ton of work writing customized java script to calculate and report scores to the LMS but this is a technique many of our clients have demanded for quite some time. Reporting is where the biggest problems seems to come into play - how to report only answered questions and eliminate the unanswered ones. Is there any further development on this topic besides going it alone?

Hello ValeriaVillarro,
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with LMS reporting. Franziska’s case above involves a pre-test in which the learner skips some questions. Please let me know if you have the same setup.
I understand that you’d like to report only answered questions and eliminate the unanswered ones. Skipped questions are considered unviewed, but unviewed and unanswered questions are treated differently. When you score only the questions learners view, they won’t be penalized for questions they don’t see. However, if learners visit questions and then skip them without answering, those questions will count against their quiz scores.
Can you share whether your course involves unviewed or unanswered questions? If it involves unanswered ones, I suggest testing your published course at SCORM Cloud and comparing the results with your LMS to rule out an LMS issue.
If it works at SCORM Cloud, we recommend opening a support case with your LMS provider to troubleshoot the issue. If your course doesn’t work correctly at SCORM Cloud, please send us your project file for review. We’re happy to help!

Thanks for the feedback - Yes, we are also setting up with a pretest - if the learner correctly answers questions they test out of that module - if they pass the full pretest - they can pass out of the full course - Once in the pretest - they can not skip any questions - they have to answer them - and of course each section is set up as 3-4 out of a pool of 5-7 so always unanswered/un-viewed questions.
As I mentioned earlier - we handle all the math on the front end so we intentionally bypass the Articulate calculations - it is not an issue if a question is seen or unseen - EXCEPT with the interaction reporting to the LMS - and yes it works just fine in SCORM cloud - we have been doing this type of testing for 3 years now and the only issue is the course submits questions unseen and unanswered (with a blank in the answer spot on the report).
Some clients can simply download the excel report and filter out the blanks - but many can not (due to how their LMS reports) so they end up having to wade through numerous unanswered questions. (For some reason the course is reporting all possible interaction even if they are not seen.) I would love to share the course with you and hear any tips on a better way to report. And you folks Rock! As always! Thanks.

Hello ValeriaVillarro,
Thank you for the additional information. There isn't a way to exclude unseen and unanswered items because all question slides defined in the Results Slide get sent to the LMS. I'll let other members chime in in case there's a Javascript solution that will allow you to exclude certain items from the reporting!
