Motion path resets instead of maintaining relative start point

I have been struggling with my board game project.  I have deleted all and recreated triggers and variables, but nothing I do to change the game makes the motion path maintain the new start position. After returning to the board game from a slide, it resets the game piece (and also starts acting strangely). I think it might have something to do with the timeline, but I cannot figure it out. This is my first advanced project and I guess I need some experienced eyes. After returning to the board from a slide, how can I set it up so the animation begins from where it ended before the trigger moves the player to the question slide?

  • Hi Janet,

I'm sorry you're third motion path is giving you an issue! Especially since you've done other projects that have had 20+ motion paths in them! This is very strange behavior.

Would you be willing to share your file here or with our support engineers privately in a support case so we can take a look at what's going on?

    Thanks!

  • It sounds like the board-game slide is set to "Reset to initial state" when revisiting. Or it might be set to "Automatically decide," and the program is deciding to reset. So go to the Slide Properties, and switch to "Resume saved state" for revisiting. That should keep everything as is when the user returns.

If that doesn't solve the problem, I suggest you upload a file with a copy of the slide in question. That'll make it easier for someone to troubleshoot.

  • Thank you!  That did the trick. However, each time I think I have it down and can just copy and edit triggers, bugs show up.  I have attached my project. Everything was working as expected...until I added the third motion path.  now all the motion paths are acting erratic. I tried this project with one motion path and intersecting hot spots, but I opted for individual paths to ensure I could see when all the triggers were working correctly and was afraid of multiple things happening on one motion path. Does anyone see why adding the third path made the other 2 go nuts? I need to add a whole bunch more, so I need to get out in front of this!

I'm experiencing issues using motion paths too. Adding a 3rd motion path seems to cause problems. As a work around, I created a new object (copy of original) with the desired motion path. But what a pain.

This was a simple project with minimal motions paths (3 total). Previously, I've created content in which one object had 20+ motion paths and experienced no problems.

    What's changed?

    Hi John,

thanks for reaching out so quickly. I've already updated that slide/interaction. I could try to recreate the issue though and create a support case.

    Thanks!
