Relative motion paths

I am really frustrated with relative motion paths. When selected, Storyline doesn't show you where the item is in relation it's current position, if that makes sense. It shows where the item started. And so, trying to get the animation to land on the correct spot becomes a game of guessing, math, and try again. Anyone have any tips on how to streamline this process?

  • Hey Joe!!

The object is going to pick up from the end point of the previous path. You should be able to drag the end point of the previous path and connect it to the beginning point of the next path.

Knowing that, I'd duplicate the shape with the path and use that as an alignment guide. Only takes a few seconds and you can quickly plot your movement.

    Here's a video.

Thanks Tom! That was very interesting. I liked the idea of putting down landing points. I'm definitely going to have to play with that.
