Mute and Unmute with custom buttons

This looks to be a way to Stop and Start the audio...correct? I simply (not so simple apparently) want to Mute and UnMute it.
I have a similar issue and what i did to resolve this issue is that I enabled the default audio control player when publishing the project and I edited the CSS of that audio button from storyline file to adjust my theme.
Tbh, i wanted to do this in the storyline software but just like you, I cant seem to figure out how to make it work in storyline 360.
