NEW IN RISE 360: Closed Captioning
We’ve just released a powerful new feature in Rise 360: closed captioning. Now you can upload closed caption files to videos to make your content more accessible.
It’s easy to add closed captions to your Rise 360 courses. Just click Edit and select Manage captions in any block that showcases a video. Select the language, and then add your file. You can add as many languages as you like.
We hope you love this helpful new feature!

Once closed captioning is added via .vtt file, should the CC be viewable in preview mode or only when the course is published? I uploaded and am not seeing in preview and wondered how to know if it worked. The upload appeared to be successful.
Hi there, Janifer. Yes, you should see the option to turn on the CC in the lower right corner of the video player. Choose the language version, and then the CC will display.
Let us know if that's not your experience. We can even privately look at the files you're using if you'd like to share them with us by clicking here!

I am not seeing this feature in Rise 360. I have the most recent updated version. When I click edit on a Video block, I do not see a "Manage Captions" option.

Can we change the setting of closed caption, like if I want to reduce the opacity of the background black patch, then how can I do that?
Hi Chetan!
Thanks for letting us know you'd like to see closed caption customization options. While there isn't a way to change the opacity of the closed caption background right now, we'll let you know if we add that option in the future.

From what I can determine, the CC in Rise requires a VTT file? And it can only be used for video blocks? Is there a CC function for text?
That's right, Cindy. Rise 360 supports VTT files for closed captions, and it's only available for video blocks. You can read more about the closed captioning feature here!

Hello,
I am having the same probably as a couple other people. Captions worked great when testing with the Rise Preview Link but now that the project is exported for web and uploaded, the player says there are CCs you can select, but when selected they do not appear!
Hello, EPD Seattle! Our team is here to help. Would you mind sending us your web output file so we can test it from our side?
If that works for you, you can send it by opening a case.

Good morning,
I am also trying to add captions to a video and I was wondering if any of you created the .vtt file with the subtitles. I don t own the captions for the video in my language and I wanted to know if I can do it myself. If so, can you please provide me with a template?
Best regards,
Ioana Cepoiu
Hello, Ioana!
What language do you need?
You can create a .vtt file by uploading your video to YouTube and using their automatic captioning feature (this works on private and public videos). Automatic captions are available in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
Here's our full guide to adding closed captions in Rise 360.

Hello,
The languare I need is Romanian, that's why I was asking if I can do it myself, the translation and then upload it to the video. Is it possible and how hard is it to prepare such file?
Thanks,
