New in Storyline 360: 64-bit App
Creating media-rich and other complex projects in Storyline 360 just got better. Thanks to the 64-bit app you'll enjoy faster authoring and increased stability no matter what you've got in the works.
As of May 2024, 64-bit Storyline 360 is the default Storyline version in the desktop app. That means you get enhanced stability, performance, and memory access with no extra steps.

Tried it out for 2 days and a project got immediately corrupted. So that's it for me with 64 bit for the time being...
Agreed. I tested it. and no problems yet for me, but I would not use it in production yet. I don't mind being on the leading edge, but not the bleeding edge!
Have used in production for a good few months, appears more stable than 32bit on my machine
Opened it, still no UI scaling so it's just running with horrible bicubic scaling on any modern monitors, uninstalled it again.
A question for a representative from Articulate. What is the expected timeframe for the duration of the beta period for this 64 bit version? i.e. Approx when is it likely to come out of beta and transition into a production version?
Hello Peter,
While we don't have an exact date on when the 64-bit version of Storyline 360 will move out of Beta, we plan to add screen recording functionality to 64-bit next month at which point it will be feature complete, meaning it will have the same features as its 32-bit counterpart.
Further releases beyond that will mostly include further stabilization and the mechanics of making it generally available.
Can anyone confirm whether the SSML features are working in the 64-bit version?
Yes. Currently using SSML in the 64-bit version. I'm only see the Neural versions for English (US) and the standard ones appear to have been removed. Can't use full SSML markup, for the neural ones....
Does the x64 version not support the "By Paragraph" text animation? I have a multi-line text box selected, and "By Paragraph" is not in the Effect Options menu for a Fade.
You would click "Fade" as the entrance animation. Then you would select the button next to it that says "Effect Options" and it'll be at the very bottom. Paragraph vs. As One Object
I'm curious if anybody knows, or perhaps Articulate support can chime in, about whether or not this 64-bit version takes advantage of a PC's GPU. And what are the key PC specs that can now be taken advantage of, assuming part of the answer is "using more RAM".

To clarify, are you finding that Storyline 360 64-bit isn't opening, but Storyline 360 is? Are you seeing an error message when trying to launch 64-bit?
I am using Parallels and haven't run into any issues when launching 64-bit. One quick step to try is uninstalling and reinstalling right from your Articulate 360 desktop app.
Please keep us updated!
I have one parallels install on M1 Ultra where it opens everytime and one on M1 Max where it can never open. No difference in VM as they are a copy of one another.

Never trust a Beta with your actual projects I guess...
I clicked the Find Out More link in the Articulate loader and it showed me a web page with a 404 error...
Can someone point me in the direction of where I can find resources that provide a more detailed comparison of the 32 bit versus the 64 bit app? I am also not clear on if developing courses in the 4 bit will provide a better developer experience or it actually means courses will load faster and be better overall for the end user/learner. I have had a google but can't find the answers I am looking for.

To answer your specific question about whether or not 64-bit provides a better developer experience or faster load times for learners: the improvements with the 64-bit version will only be apparent for the course developer using Storyline. There will be no difference in the learner experience.
