Pausing/Resuming audio when leaving presentation to go to intranet

I have 3 buttons on a slide. Each button takes the learner to a different page of our intranet site. When they click a button, the audio pauses as it should. But when we return from the intranet page, the audio starts over from the beginning. I have added a trigger to "pause audio" when someone clicks a button, but I am unsure how to resume the audio automatically when they return. There are no layers or anything to use as a trigger.

This is probably pretty simple, but I am very out of practice with Storyline 360. Any advice is appreciated.

DebraGarcia-d3e, it does pause. When I close the intranet window and return to the "player", the audio starts over at the beginning of the slide instead of continuing from where it paused. So it is like it is entering the slide for the first time. I tested it in Firefox, and it does work properly. Our IT department requires us to use Chrome as our default browser, and that is where this issue occurs.

I set that on each of my slides that have hyperlinks, and it is still starting the slide over from the beginning when I return.

        Hi JasonGressman-8,

Happy to help! I understand that the issue happens when you're hosting on your intranet site.

Is your intranet site running an LMS or a Web server? If it's running an LMS, have you tried testing your course in a different LMS to confirm if the behavior you're experiencing is specific to your LMS? SCORM Cloud is a great environment that you can use for this purpose. Here's how to test your course on this platform:

If you can replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud or if your intranet is running a Web server, would you be willing to upload a copy of your project file here or privately by opening a support case so we can look at it? We'll delete it when we're done testing.

  • As an update, I did hear from Customer Support, and they told me that it was setup properly and working as it should. I tried it again, and it still started the audio over from the beginning of the slide when returning to the "player". I played around further and found that I am having that issue because our IT department has Chrome setup as our default browser. When I open it in Firefox, it does work as it should. I am not sure if anyone else has run into this, or if anyone has a way to force Chrome to work properly, but I would love to here if anyone else has had an issue like this.

Your IT department clearly has group policies enforced in Chrome, which you can't change yourself. You'll need to ask them to add your course domain to the TabDiscardingExceptions policy. It’s just my opinion based on reading into this issue.
