PowerPoint Icons

I found several threads relating to PowerPoint icons. It appears as though people are using them in Storyline products. I just want to make sure this is legal. I'm assuming that it is, as we can import PowerPoint into Storyline. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Lori,

In regard to using PowerPoint icons in your Storyline project, you may want to consider consulting with your internal legal team. Laws are different depending on where you are located and also differ based on the circumstance that you are using the icon.

If you are located in the USA, you may find this legal resource from NOLO relevant to this topic as well.

I hope this information is helpful!

  • Hi, Lori,

I'm guessing that you're asking about the various icons you can insert into PowerPoint and other office apps (rather than the icons for the apps themselves.

This site provides what you're looking for:

I'm not a lawyer, but I believe the explicit statement about "no royalty or copyright" would apply to wherever the icons end up. After all, PPTs can be exported as images. Word files can be exported as PDFs. If they wanted to prevent copying/saving into other programs, they could have/should have explicitly said that.
