Pre Assessments
I am new to Articulate Rise 360 and hope you can help me. In Rise 360, is there a way to build a course that begins with a pre assessment, and if the student passes, they don't need to complete the course. Basically, testing out of the course. If the student does not pass the pre assessment, they then proceed to complete the course with a post assessment.
Hi PamelaMacDonald,
Happy to help!
This type of design can't be done in Rise 360 because of how completion requirements are structured. You'll need to have one of the three options selected before you publish a course, and none of then allow you to select a pre-assessment as a conditional completion requirement. With that being said, this can easily be done in Storyline 360 using triggers and variables. Here are some helpful articles if you decide to take the Storyline 360 route:- Storyline 360: Here's When a Course Communicates Completion to an LMS

I'll let community members chime in in case they have other recommendations they'd like to share!

Personally, I'd use Storyline, since it has built-in functionality for using pre-tests.
But it is possible to set up a Rise course with a pre-test. This post explains how: TIP: Build a Rise Course with a Pretest | Articulate - Community
Note that there are some important caveats.
- The program can't tell the LMS if the user passed the pretest or if they went through the content. And it can't tell the LMS the user's score. But it can tell the LMS that the user "completed" the course.
- If a user fails the pretest, exits the course before proceeding to the content, and then relaunches the course, the Storyline block will reset. In other words, the user would be able to retake the pretest. That's because Storyline blocks will always reset when revisiting the page in Rise. So this method isn't a solution if you're concerned about users doing that.
