Quiz review pagination incorrect (Question Bank)

I have created a test/quiz using a question bank structure (20 questions displayed out of 25). I am using the variable Scene.SlideNum on my slides.

When my learners take the quiz, the pagination is correct as designed. However when they review the quiz, the pagination is often out of sequence. Am I missing a trigger on my Submit button at the end?

  • Hi Scott!

It sounds like you've run into erratic behavior with the review order of questions in your Storyline course. Sorry to hear that, but I'd be happy to help!

Thank you for sharing your .story file! Testing the file on my end (64-bit Storyline 360 version 3.84.31647.0 via Windows Parallels on a Mac M1) I was unable to reproduce the issue you described. The review order matched the questions as I answered them while previewing the course, as well as after publishing to Review 360.

To clarify, you mentioned the pagination is 'often' out of sequence. Would that imply this issue occurs intermittently? If so, could you share how your learners were viewing the course when they encountered this behavior? Also, seeing a screen recording of the issue as they are experiencing it on their end could be helpful!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hello Steven,

I have worked on this file along with Scott and observed the same error. Since Scott's unavailable at the moment, I thought it would be best to share the recording, as you requested.

This is a recording of the review action of the test, as seen from the LMS. In this instance, page 13/20 seems to be missed. After question 12/20, it jumps to 20/20, followed by 14/20 and the rest.

    Hope this helps. Thank you!

      Hello Swathi,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.

I tried replicating the behavior on my end but I wasn't able to do so after publishing your course using Storyline 360 Update 84. Would you mind checking the published output here and letting me know if you still see the page number skip during review mode? If my published output works properly for you, try republishing your course using the latest version of Storyline 360 to see if this helps.

Additionally, if my published course works but yours still doesn't, try repairing your Storyline 360 installation and then republishing your course once again. Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Jose,

I tried you publication on your Articulate Review, and it happened to me again. Question #2 displayed as page #20 during my review of the quiz. :-(

      Hi Scott,

Thanks for the additional information. I took a closer look at your project file and saw that you your slide numbers were placed individually on each question slide. I found that placing the slide number references on the Slide Master layout instead allowed the numbering to behave consistently.

In the screenshot above, the numbering below is from the Slide Master layout, and the one above is from your original slide number references placed individually. Here's a sample link so you can test the behavior between the two. To correct the behavior, consider moving the slide number references to the Slide Master layout instead. Attached is a copy of your project file with this change applied. Let me know if this works for you!

Hello Jose. Thank you for identifying the issue. The slide numbers work properly when shifted to the Slide Master layout. Thank you!
