I am building a JavaScript Quiz- Q/A - the SME asked me to set the questions up so there are 3 wrong answers (with feedback) and one right answer. There should be two tries before getting the correct answer. I am not very good with math (variables) and I haven't created a quiz in quite some time this way. I cannot figure out how to set this up so once a learner has tried twice they get the correct answer and move to the next slide.
If you're using Storyline, this is easy.
When you insert a Graded Question slide, the default is to give Correct/Incorrect feedback after 1 attempt. However, if you set the Attempts field to a number >1, the program automatically adds a Try Again layer.
If the user hasn't used up their attempts yet, the Try Again will show when they answer incorrectly. You can edit that layer to show whatever feedback you want.
FYI: The feedback layers automatically have default text (based on what's in the Player's Text Labels). However, you can edit that text and/or add other objects to the layers.

Alternately, you could use give different feedback based on which wrong answer was selected.
