Re-using a Screen Recording - Help with recovering from folders
Hello.
I have sceen recorded a system software and selected 'Try' mode to input the content so a learner can go through the process.
I now want to re-use this screen recording for 'View' and 'Test' modes but the screen recording does not appear in the drop down from the ribbon...which is annoying.
So I have tried to follow some other threads on here and go into the folders. I have managed to find individual clips of the video that storyline broke down when it converted my recording into slides...but i cannot find the full version and don't know what i'm looking at to be honest.
I'm not well versed in folders and where everything goes, so can anyone help me find the full recording and can you explain it to me in bullet points like i'm 5 years old please? :)
Hello,
Sorry to hear about your screen recording.
Without your screen recording appearing in the Record Screen drop down of Storyline 360, there is no way to reuse the recording to create new 'View' and 'Test' modes slides. I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:
- Do you recall clicking on the Delete Recording button shown here?
- Does importing your slides over to a new project file allow the Record Screen section to populate the missing recording?
- Are you able to replicate the behavior using a new Storyline 360 project and a new recording?
Looking forward to your response!

Hello Joe,
Thank you for your quick response.
So the 2nd bullet point, importing the slides into a new project...then clicking on 'File' in the ribbon and selecting 'screen record' has worked! the video appears in full and i can now choose view or test mode instead!
Can't tell you how much this helps, i had to travel across the country to get this recorded on my laptop in the first place and when I realised the recording wasnt appearing to re-use again I was quite deflated!
Thanks Joe,
Sam.
