"Refuse to connect" error shows when I attempt to embed sites to my Rise Course
Hi everyone,
I was used to using the embed sites feature in Rise, which I loved. I know that some sites don't connect, but for a while now, no sites have been connecting. I even embedded a Rise training course with the Share link, and it no longer connects, whereas it used to. Has something changed that means fewer and fewer sites allow this?
Thanks
Hi VeroReniere, great question!
Nothing has changed recently in Rise to limit embedding, but many websites have tightened their security over time. When a site blocks embedding using browser security settings, Rise will show a “Refused to connect” message, even if the embed worked previously.
A couple of quick things to note:
- The Embed block only works with sites that explicitly allow embedding.
- Rise share links aren’t supported for embedding inside another Rise course, so those may stop working as security behavior evolves.
These two articles may help clarify what’s supported and what to check:
If you’re seeing this with a site that should allow embedding, opening a support case is the best next step, so we can take a closer look.
