Resume Course Issue

We have recently started having issues with courses being able to resume when a learner has completed the training.

The screen to resume that we have always seen appears as expected.

When the Resume button is clicked, it now goes to another screen with Yes/No buttons to resume where you left off. This screen is new to us and neither button works.

Note: The Restart link will take learners back to the start of the module and works fine. It's only the Resume button that causes issues.

The learner has to click the Menu tab and use that to get to any slide, but that isn't obvious to the learner. We would be fine with the screen if the Yes/No buttons were active, but I can't find anywhere within Storyline to add functionality.

These are slide properties:

Our LMS admins think this has to do with our SCORM package, but we're publishing the same as we always have.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to resolve this issue? If it's not a Storyline issue, we'll open a ticket with our LMS company.

    Hi,

We are experiencing this issue too after updating Articulate Storyline from version 100 to version 117.

I submitted a case to Articulate and was advised that Articulate's position is that this behaviour is expected and that the recommended solution is to reset learner progress whenever updates are made to a published course, even for minor changes such as correcting text, updating links, replacing images, or fixing spelling errors.

This represents a significant limitation for maintaining live content and differs from our previous experience where we had no issues with updating content in live modules (making sure that there are no structural changes - just changes like fixing a broken links, changing some text, swapping an image).

Having worked out that this second non-functioning resume screen is the Classic Player resume screen (even though we are using the Modern Player) I have updated the label for this page to give instructions to our learners that the page is broken and to use the menu to access the pages.

AlisonPepin-413 - if this hasn't been resolved do you have you any further insights or tips on how you are managing this issue?

LucianaPiazza - any progress on a solution to this issue?

  • Hello AlisonPepin-413

I understand that your learners are unable to successfully resume a completed or partially completed course using the Resume button. Happy to learn more!

We'd be happy to review your file after you've completed testing in SCORM Cloud. You can share a screen recording of this behavior and your .story file in a support case so our team can take a closer look.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

We use Intellum to host the content.

We use SCORM 1.2 when we publish our files. We tested the SCORM 2004 and it is incompatible with our LMS.

I'll test the course in SCORM cloud. We haven't yet.

Is the Yes/No button screen part of Articulate? Our team hasn't seen that on other modules we've published.
