I'm not sure exactly how Storyline "automatically decides" what to do when revisiting. Here's what I recommend:
- Keep "Automatically decide" for Question slides. Storyline will know whether to reset the slide (when the user needs to answer the question) or resume it (when reviewing).
- For other slides, change the setting to ensure it does what you want.
The "When revisiting" setting for a layer can be different than the base.
- This can be useful. For example, suppose you have a custom menu slide with audio.
- To prevent the audio from replaying every time the user returns to the slide, set the Slide Properties to "Resume saved state."
- To run triggers that adjust the state of the menu buttons, put them on an invisible layer with the Slide Layer Properties set to "Reset to initial state."
