Rise and Blackboard tracking quiz result
Hello,
I developed an online course in Rise and included a quiz at the end. The course was published as a SCORM 2004 (4th Edition) package with "Track using quiz result" enabled and uploaded to Blackboard Ultra.
For most students, the quiz results and completion status are being recorded correctly in Blackboard. However, for a small number of students, the results do not appear to be saved.
Are there any specific requirements or known issues that could affect SCORM tracking in Blackboard Ultra? For example:
- Browser compatibility (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox)
- Third-party cookie settings
- Pop-up blockers
- Students closing the window before the SCORM package finishes communicating results to Blackboard
- Network interruptions or session timeouts
I contacted IT and was told:
"SCORM packages can miss about 10% of students' successful completion statuses, which is why we do not recommend using SCORM courses in Blackboard."
Is this a known limitation of Blackboard's SCORM implementation, or are there specific settings or best practices that can improve the reliability of tracking and reporting?
If it is true that 10% of the results can be missed what is the work around to bring a course with a quiz from Rise into Blackboard Ultra?
Thank you very much for your help.🌷

Thanks for providing all that context.
Since most learners' quiz results are being tracked correctly, it isn't immediately clear whether this is related to the Rise course itself or something affecting the learners' sessions in Blackboard Ultra.
For the students who are experiencing this behavior, could you ask them to try the following?
- Clear their browser cache and cookies, then access the course again.
- Open the course in an Incognito or Private browsing window to rule out browser extensions that may be interfering.
- Try a different supported browser, making sure it's up to date and that JavaScript is enabled.
If the issue continues after trying those steps, we'd be happy to take a closer look. Please share the additional details, including your Rise 360 export settings, SCORM package, and information about the affected learners, through a support case so our team can investigate further.
In the meantime, I'd also love to hear from other community members using Blackboard Ultra. Have you run into similar SCORM tracking behavior, or found any LMS-specific settings or best practices that improved tracking reliability?

I think Blackboard has a very poor LMS if they do not catch 10% of completions. What do they recommend you use instead on an industry standard? Perhaps the accept xAPI?
