Risks of manually overriding suspend_data on Moodle
Hi everyone,
This seemed to be a hot topic about 5-8 years ago, but not too much recently. We have published quite a large course in Storyline 360, using SCORM 1.2 as that is what is supported by our LMS (Moodle 3.9.5). The total number of slides in the course is 166, over 5 scenes. Users who logout before finishing the entire course, all go back to the same slide (halfway through the 4the scene) when they resume. We cannot use SCORM 2004 and simplifying the course or splitting into multiple, smaller SCORM files is not ideal.
I have asked the company that hosts our LMS to increase the suspend_data size manually but they are resistant, saying that this will not solve our issue ("the API which Moodle uses to pull data from the SCORM package may not correctly read the data being sent. The Moodle database connection to the SCORM package may end up timing out if the data being saved takes to0 long.").
For anyone who has changed this setting in Moodle, for an issue with bookmarking, were there side-effects? Did your course still work? any input is greatly appreciated.
