Screen reader - NVDA start of text

Carrying out accessibility test of Rise modules using NVDA using the down/ up arrows, and I've noticed the starting couple of words is often cut off/skipped in each block. Is this a known issue? I'm quite new to accessibility and screen readers, so it may be a user error ;-)
