Seeing Variable in Text Entry Box

It's a numeric variable that shows "0" in the preview instead of the text I've written in edit mode. It should say "enter phone #" when the text input appears, but it has the zero. Once you click on the box and backspace the zero, the "enter phone #" appears. There's another issue of the correct value triggering the wrong value response as if the learner got the question wrong. I bring it up because I think they're related.

  • Your Text entry box behaves that way because the Variable is a number Variable. Since you do not seem to be doing any calculations but just comparing the values, I would recommend that you change this to a Text Variable. Then, it should act as you expect. You will have to reinsert a new Numeric Entry, as you cannot change the type of Variable once it is created.

If you validate a 9-digit number, your interaction will work as expected. However, with a 10-digit number, Storyline stops validating correctly if the value is, for example, 2200000000. The value 2100000000, however, will validate correctly. I believe this is a bug.
