Selecting numerous items from a list on a slide

I am brand new to Storyline - looking for some direction.  I am moving a course that is based on self-reflective exercises in a participant workbook to an e-learning course in Storyline.  One of the exercises involves the learner putting a checkmark beside relevant items from an extensive list (about 40 items).  The next step is fine tune the checked items down to the 5 most relevant.  Following that, the learner writes a brief comment for each of the 5 items.  I have no idea on how to take this straight forward process in the workbook and put it into a few slides in Storyline.  Any suggestions/direction would be hugely appreciated.  Thank you.
