Send Failure to LMS or Redirect user to Specific Page if they Exit During Quiz

Does anyone have a solution for sending a failure to an LMS if the user exits during the quiz without completing it?  Or even redirecting to a specific page if they exit without completing?

We have regulations that state a user must complete an exam once they begin and looking for a way to redirect to a slide that states this or automatically sending a failure, so they have to restart the course when returning?

We need to allow them to resume the course to where they left off until the exam has started so removing the Prompt to Resume is not an option for the entire course.

Currently using Sumtotal LMS and using SCORM 2004 and 1.2.

One way to do it used to be to use JavaScript to fire a "Failed/Incomplete" at the LMS when the course was launched, and then fire a "Passed/Completed" at the LMS once the learner fulfilled the course requirements. I'd get a call every now and then from an irate learner who closed the course before completing and saw the "Failed" status; once I explained that it would change when the course was completed, he/she tended to calm down.

Thanks for the suggestion.  If everyone would take a training in one sitting, that might would work but unfortunately, they do not.  And that failure in some cases would disqualify them from working.

  • It would also be much easier if you split the course from the assessment

Thanks!  It would, we did actually try that when we first got a new LMS and it did not go very well.  Our learners are used to one consolidated course and ended up having to merge them all back together.
