Slide Layer Interaction Not Working

Hi

I have set up a project and I want the user to be able to click on a tab at anytime to see their score.

I have set up a slide master to do this. There is a base slide which I have set to jump to a button layer once the timeline starts on the slide (the slide is set to restart at the initial state).

The first layer has the button on it and when you click the button it shows a second layer with the score icon on it. The score icon layer automatically hides once the timeline ends. The theory being that it goes back to the original slide and then automatically opens the button layer again, and so on.

I have done this a thousand times before, but for whatever reason the base slide does not jump to the button layer once the icon layer has closed the first time.

What am I missing?

Ah right, so you are bypassing the base slide and simply jumping straight back to the button layer. Fabulous, thanks.

Steven_Haigh: Your comment is marked as the solution to your question. I'm guessing you saw the "MARK AS SOLUTION" button when you entered that comment and assumed the button simply marks the entire thread. Lots of folks have done this.

However, the specific comment MARKED AS SOLUTION appears immediately under the question. That helps others find it.

So I suggest you unmark your comment and then mark DShaw's answer as the solution. That will also give him the well-deserved points for his helpful efforts.

The problem is that "When the timeline starts on this slide" only fires once. When your Points layer closes, Storyline goes back to the base layer but doesn't restart its timeline, so the trigger that shows the Open layer never runs again. "Reset to initial state" only applies when you revisit the slide, not when a layer hides. I made one change, a new trigger on the Points layer of the Points Slide layout: Show layer Open when the timeline ends on Points. Now, each time the score layer finishes, it brings the button layer back.
