Storyline 360 | Black Screen + File Reverting Issues 😩
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’ve hit a major snag since applying the recent Articulate 360 updates. Here’s what’s happening:
🔹 I’m getting a random black screen when trying to open files (that worked as expected yesterday). 🔹 Then the file comes up with an error—which says created in an old version or the file is corrupt. 🔹 It’s inconsistent, happening across different projects with no clear pattern ( some projects made in 2013 work fine and one I started yesterday does not). 🔹 I’ve already tried the usual: uninstall/reinstall, cache clearing, and system restarts, Internal IT. Still no luck.
As someone facing a tight deadline, this has been incredibly stressful and disappointing. I need a resolution ASAP and I'm wondering:
Has anyone else experienced this after the latest updates? Could this be related to file syncing or version conflicts with cloud/local storage? Any workaround tips or insights before I escalate further?
I’ve already reached out to support but being based in Australia the turn around times are long, but thought I’d post here too in case the community has solutions or similar experiences to share.

Hello stressed,
I too receive that error and to fix I open the .story file from the folder level and not internally from Storyline from the Open -> file (Ctrl+O) method.
Hope that helps. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble opening .story files! Great to see Allyson has been helping you!
Smart move on opening a support case. I see that my teammate Carlo is handling your case, and he just replied to your e-mail sharing insight and suggestions.
You're in excellent hands working with Carlo, and we can continue the conversation through your case.

hi if this becomes a "known issue" rather than just fixing it for the indovidual, I request that there be an upgrade or a global notification that it is a "known issue" thank you
Absolutely! Thank you for the feedback.
Checking NikkiGillam-666's case, it appears their issue was file-specific, as it had become corrupted. We recommend following the steps outline in this article, to avoid file corruption while authoring in Storyline.
Have a great start to your week!
