Storyline closed captions not displaying when project is published as video
Hello. I have a Storyline project that has a few slides on which I want closed captions to display. I've added the Player.DisplayCaptions trigger on each of those slides, to start the captions when the timeline for the slides starts. I also have captions selected in the player (classic player). It all works beautifully in preview. However, when I publish to video/mp4 format, the captions don't display. Can anyone help me with this? Is it not possible to have closed captions display when publishing to video? We're using Chrome browser. Thanks.
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 73, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One new feature we’ve included:
Boost video accessibility by including closed captions when publishing projects as MP4 video files.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

why not?

That is correct. Captions are not included in the publish to video output.

I'm having the exact same issue; is there no way to enable this feature? I feel I took the time to create captions and they are now a bit worthless

Publish to video does not include the closed captions at the moment the only solution is to recaption the video.
There are online tools that will do this very quickly for you and need very little adjustment

I made sure I did the updates and it still didn't work for me.
Hi Dana,
Thanks for reaching out!
I'm sorry to hear that you're running into this issue after updating your software. I'm happy to help troubleshoot to investigate what's going on.
- Are you using the latest version of Storyline 360? Currently, we're on build 3.73.30119.0.
- Can you please share a bit more detail on what you're seeing? Are you receiving an error message?
I'd like to take a look at your file to investigate what's going on. You can upload it here or share it privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.

I publish it to a video and get two output files: the mp4 and the vtt. The mp4 is automatically opening in Windows Media Player. There aren't any error messages.
Hello Dana,
Yes, that is the correct behavior. The closed captions will appear as a .vtt file when you publish your course to video. See this article for more information:
To view your video with closed captions, enable the caption option in your media player's settings. You may need to manually select the .vtt file for some media players.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks. I assumed they'd automatically play. I don't think windows media player has an option for captions so I'll need to figure something else out.
