Storyline stops screen recording after a few clicks.

While doing a screen recording, Storyline will save my recording after about 3 clicks and create the scene but the task that I need to accomplish takes way more than that.  I'm recording while using MS Excel and a tool that's added to Excel.  I don't know if it's a setting tied to the mouse or something else.  I'm new to Storyline so this is very confusing and disruptive.  

 

Is there anything I should check to see that could be working improperly?  I've only used it for about a month now.
