Text-Entry Data
Hi there,
I'm attempting to set a text entry data box to advance to the next slide using the enter key only if the user has entered text into the box. The next button on the player has been set to be hidden when the timeline starts on the page with the condition that the text variable is currently blank. Pressing the enter key works if the user initially enters text and hits enter, but if the user attempts to hit enter with no text added, the text box reads the enter key as a return command and if they backspace (they have to hold shift and backspace to backspace) and enter text it will not accept it and they are stuck on the page. I have attached pictures of the triggers that I have written, I was attempting to use 1 variable.
Thanks!
Hi Layla!
I see what you're saying. The trick to this is to make the text entry field smaller so the user doesn't have room to add text to the next line.

Pretty sure yours is the answer I'm looking for, Lauren, but the link is no longer working.
Can you help?
Hi Michael!
I'm happy to help! All you need to do is resize the text entry field so it only takes up one line.

@lauren - I want the user to be able to click the Enter key instead of "submit" when the users types in the required text. Can you help?
Hi Stephanie!
It sounds like you had some questions about setting up a text entry box to function if the user only types in the correct word and hits the Enter key. I'd be happy to help!
One of the ways you can achieve this is by adding a free-form question slide and setting the Submit Keys to Enter. I've recorded a quick Peek to walk you through the process. I've also included a sample file for your reference!
If this is a different approach to the type of text entry box you are trying to design, please let me know and I'd be happy to continue working with you on it!
