Text-to-Speech (TTS) with audio "blips"

Has anyone experienced hearing little "blips" or "screeches" when using the text-to-speech feature?

Sometimes I'm able to silence it with the audio editor. But, if the sound is coming from the middle of a word, it's not exactly doable.

I can't export it to Adobe Audition. Otherwise, it sounds more robotic than it already does.

I don't know why this happens. I have looked over the transcript and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. It also seems to be random.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

  • Hello Pricila!

Are you finding the text blips or screeches when generating new text or does it happen when you've already edited text-to-speech audio?

Do you mind sharing your .story file with us so we can better understand what you're seeing on your end? You can attach your file to this discussion or upload it privately in a support case.

  • Hi Lauren! I'm so sorry for responding 11 months later :( I wasn't aware that I got a response from this. Attached is my .story file. It's occuring on the 4th slide during the last 5 seconds. In that slide, I put in two text to speech examples of the issue. Sometimes the blip comes in the beginning of the word (and I'm able to silence it), but other times, it's "inside" the word.

      Hello Pricila!

No need to apologize! We all get busy with other things, so please don't worry!

By 4th slide, do you mean 1.4_8-0-videoSlide? I just viewed that slide and noticed that there is a bit of overlap at the end, but that was from the two Text to Speech files playing at the same time.

If it is that slide, do you mind recording a quick Peek of the behavior you're seeing?

      Hi Pricila,

Thanks for sharing a copy of your audio files. I tested both on my end but I was unable to hear any noticeable 'blips' when I loaded both files in Storyline 360. Here's a link to the published output that I used for testing.

Please let us know if you are still able to observe issues in the course. If the issue persists, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

      • Make sure that you are accessing the course using updated browsers
      • Try opening the .wav files using just a media player such as VLC Player, are you still able to hear the blips?
      • Does recreating the audio files in Storyline 360 result in the same behavior?
      • View the output using a different computer, or using a different set of speakers - is the blip still audible?
