TextEntry in Built-In Voice Over

I use TextEntry in many courses to ask the learner to provide their name. I then use that Name to display on the screen when providing content. For example, the user keys in "Alex" for their name. On an upcoming slide, the text will read "That's great to hear, Alex. Thank you for sharing."

But to take it to the next level, I am hoping that the Text-to-Speech could pick up on this somehow. Is this a feature available or coming soon?

  • Hi, Norman.

    Thank you for reaching out!

If I understand your question correctly, you're looking to add a reference to a variable (TextEntry) in text-to-speech so that it would read the value of that variable.

Since text-to-speech happens before you run (preview or publish) the project, it doesn't read the values of the variables. Here is some additional information on the text-to-speech functionality:

Thanks. Yes, I reviewed that article, but it doesn't seem like Articulate currently allows for the built in Text to Speech to recognize Text Entry variables. Would definitely be a game changer and increase learner engagement by making it a more personable experience.

I have submitted a request for this feature. Thank you.
